Janis N. Acosta serves as our Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. From April 2007 to December 2010, Ms. Acosta served as our Vice President and General Counsel for North America. From November 2006 to July 2010, Ms. Acosta was a partner at Winston & Strawn LLP. From 1999 to October 2006, Ms. Acosta held various positions at Lear Corporation, including Vice President of Global Risk Management, Deputy General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel.
Her role is twofold. In her role as Executive Vice President for IAC, she oversees several business functions, including corporate development (M&A, joint ventures and strategic alliances), internal audit, marketing and communications and intellectual property. Since IAC was established in 2006, she led negotiations, or played an integral role in 17 successful acquisitions and the formation of seven joint ventures on four continents. These acquisitions and strategic alliances have expanded IAC’s global footprint in emerging and strategic markets, such as ASEAN, China, India and the Republic of South Africa
In her role as General Counsel, she supervises all legal and compliance activity globally, which spans 100 Company locations in 21 countries. In this role, the key priority is managing legal and compliance risk in the regions where IAC operates.
Named to Crain’s Detroit Business Magazine’s annual 40 Under 40 citing the Detroit area’s most influential executives under the age of 40 – Acosta received her Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit and a B.S. in Political Economy from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich.
